White Sox continue to dominate at home

After the first-inning, it looked like another bad day for the White Sox. With two outs in the inning, a single up the middle by Bobby Abreu was followed by an inexplicable error by Jermaine Dye on a line drive off the bat of Vladimir Guerrero. The ball, traveling at about head level, tipped off the glove of Dye, Abreu scored, and memories of bad defense costing the Sox games began to creep into mind.

Gavin Floyd pitched over the mistake, stranding Guerrero at third, thus saving the Sox another unearned run. Then, Floyd gave up only five more hits through eight innings.

Offensively, the White Sox mashed. Jim Thome had two home runs and Paul Konerko added one of his own.

After tonight’s 6-2 win, the Sox have only one game left in this tough 18-game stretch. Currently, the Sox are 9-8. After tomorrow’s game, the Sox get a break playing against the Indians, but are also likely to get some players back.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times‘ Joe Cowley on Twitter (cst_sox):

Ramirez should be back against Clev. Jenks, Oz said doc may have to go in and get the kidney stone.

According to Sox, Jenks had stone blasted out and should be ready by Friday.

Could even be back tomorrow.
