Chicago Bears

Skip Bayless is right?

Jay Cutler was bad on Thursday, but one performance shouldn’t stem into some grander inability to lead the Bears to success. It’s especially ridiculous when these statements are based on untruths.

Jean-Jacques Taylor of the Dallas Morning News criticized Cutler for refusing to accept blame after losses, “the best quarterbacks take all the blame during losses; they deflect the credit and the praise during wins,” he said. Funny considering after the game, Jay Cutler had this to say:

”I have to apologize to the defense, and the offense as a whole has to apologize. [The defense] played a great game. They kept us in there even throughout all the turnovers. We have to play a lot better.” [Chicago Sun-Times]

Taylor said Cutler needs to take the blame even when it’s not his fault. Though there is one known report of Cutler doing just that. According to Zach Zaidman of “The Score,” after the game in Atlanta, Cutler apologized to Orlando Pace and took the blame for Pace’s false start on 4th and one. Here’s Zaidman talking about this on Boers and Bernstein, the day after the game..

I guess Cutler needs to be more public about his blame-taking, so that he can create more unnecessary attention around himself.

Going forward, this one game isn’t evidence that Cutler is unable to win or can’t lead the Bears. He’s still the guy they’re going to build around from here on out, and he should be. The Charlie Villanueva look alike across from Bayless said that right thing while trying to criticize Cutler about 2:50 into the video, “So Cutler’s the only good player on the team.”

Yeah, I think you can say that.
