Bulls restart tough schedule tonight

Eastern Conference Quarterfinal Boston Celtics vs. Chicago Bulls

Whenever the Bulls play the Celtics and Kevin Garnett is limited, physically, to grabbing Rajon Rondo’s face, the Bulls have a chance. Otherwise, with Garnett playing, this match-up has resulted in two downright beatdowns this season.

What the Four Factors say:

TeamPaceeFG%TO%OR%FTM/FGA
Chicago (Off.)95.2 (14)46.05 (29)14.1 (23)28.8 (5)27.3 (27)
Boston (Def.)93.7 (22)47.7 (5)15.2 (4)26.5 (15)31.3 (20)

TeamPaceeFG%TO%OR%FTM/FGA
Chicago (Def.)95.2 (14)48.2 (7)12.8 (23)25.8 (9)27.1 (4)
Boston (Off.)93.7 (22)53.2 (2)14.9 (29)24.6 (25)33.5 (6)

What it all means:

The Bulls’ bottom-2 offense and the Celtics’ top-5 defense means the Bulls need to find some roundabout ways to score. Most likely, this will come through Joakim Noah and offensive rebounds. Where the Bulls are a good offensive rebounding team, the Celtics are only ordinary in stopping their opponents on the offensive glass, and these statistics factor in 29 games with Garnett.

Bulls’ injury report: Jerome James is out. Luol Deng is probable. And despite the big to do about Tyrus Thomas moving into the starting spot in place of Taj Gibson, Gibson is still a game-time decision.

Celtics’ injury report:
Marquis Daniels is out. Kevin Garnett is out — leaving hope for a competitive game. Rasheed Wallace is day-to-day with a sore left forefoot.
